Saving the World
拯救世界
A student is talking to her teacher .
一位學生正在和她的老師說話。
Student：I hear that scientists are planning to study asteroids and meteors, right ?
學生：我聽說科學家正計畫研究小行星和隕石，對不對？
Teacher：Yes. They want to determine whether Earth is in danger of being struck by such a rock .
老師：對。他們要判定地球是否會有被那種石頭撞上的危險 。
Student：What if they discover that a big one is coming straight for us ?
學生：如果他們發現有一顆大石頭直接朝我們來怎麼辦 ？
Teacher：In that case, there are two things they can do. They can launch rockets to push the rock off its course .
老師：那樣的話，他們能做的有兩件事。他們可以發射火箭將石頭推離軌道 。
Student：So that it will miss Earth, right?
學生：這麼一來石頭便撞不著地球了，對不對？
Teacher：Right. And if that fails, we can try destroy ing the rock with nuclear miss iles.
老師：對。這個方法不成功的話，我們還可以嘗試用核子飛彈來摧毀石塊 。
Student：Wow! I never thought that nuclear weapons could save the world instead of ending it!
學生：哇！我從來沒有想到核子武器可以拯救世界而不是毀了它！
