front desk的字面意思直譯為『前面的桌子』, 但我們可千萬不能這樣翻譯, front desk的真正意思指的是『飯店中的櫃檯』而言。我們現在來介紹有關front的一個重要的用法:
in front of... 在……的前面
例: There's a department store in front of the train station.
(火車站前面有一家百貨公司。) |

Can you give me a morning call, please?
可不可以請你在早上打電話給我叫我起床？ |
morning call乃特指在早上叫人起床的電話, 而wake-up call也是指叫人起床的電話, 但則不限於在什麼時間。
例: Can you give me a morning call at 5 tomorrow, please?
(可不可以請你在明早五點鐘打電話給我叫我起床？)
Can you give me a wake-up call at 4 p.m., please?
(可不可以請你在下午四點鐘打電話給我叫我起床？)

例: I usually go to bed at 10 p.m. and get up at 6 in the morning every day.

= Please give me a call at 6:00 a.m.
= Please ring me (up) at 6:00 a.m.

欲表『打電話給某人』可採用下列片語:
call + 人 (美式用法)
=give + 人 + a call (美式用法)
=ring + 人 (up) (英式用法)
=give + 人 + a ring (英式用法)
例: I'll call you tonight.

這是一種用來回應他人、表示願意做對方所要求之事或有能力做某事的用語。
例: A: Can you lend me 100 dollars?
B: No problem.

B: No problem.
(甲：你會做這個工作嗎？)
