本課介紹及物動詞provide及名詞influence的用法。

provide + 人 + with + 物　　提供某人某物

　=supply + 人 + with + 物

例: I'll provide you everything (that) you need.
　　(╳)

　→I'll provide you with everything (that) you
　　need. (○)

　= I'll supply you with everything (that) you
　　need.

　　　(我會提供你所需要的一切。)

同理:

　　　Television provides us a wide range of
　　　information and entertainment. (╳)

　　→Television provides us with a wide range of
　　　information and entertainment.

　　　(電視給我們提供廣泛的信息和娛樂。)

influence、impact、effect均為名詞, 亦均作『影響』解。表示『對……有影響』時, 要與介詞on並用, 形成下列用法:

　對某人或某事物有好的/壞的/很深的影響

　例: The students' naughty behavior had a bad
　　　influence on the new student.

　　　(那些學生頑皮的行為對那位新來的學生有不良
　　　的影響。)

同理:

　　　However, it's a pity that it may also have a
　　　bad influence on young minds.
