Do you have a single room?　　你們有單人房嗎？

旅館或飯店的房間通常分為下列數種:

single room(有一張單人床的) 單人房

twin room(有兩張單人床的) 雙人房

double room(有一張雙人床的) 雙人房

suite(備有臥房、客廳及浴室的) 套房

deluxe suite豪華套房

　presidential suite　　總統套房

＊presidential a. 總統的

Sorry. We're fully booked.　　很抱歉，我們全訂滿了。

fully booked是很常見的用法, 表示旅館房間、座位、餐桌、門票等已全被預訂完了時, 就可用fully booked。其中fully是副詞, 表『完完全全地』, booked作形容詞, 表『預訂的』。

例: A: I'd like to book a table for four tonight.

　 B: Sorry. We're fully booked.

　 (甲：我想訂今晚一張四個人坐的餐桌。)

　 (乙：很抱歉，我們全訂滿了。)

3. The only room available at the moment is a twin room.

目前唯一的空房是雙人房。

一般的形容詞修飾名詞時, 多置於該名詞的前面。

例: Mary is a pretty girl.

　　(瑪麗是個漂亮的女孩。)

　　John lives in a big house.

　　(約翰住在一間大房子裏。)

但在英文中, 有少數形容詞修飾名詞時, 形容詞要放在該名詞之後, 而不可置於其前, 如本句的available就是屬於這類的形容詞, 因此我們不能說:

The only available room at the moment is a twin room. (╳)

而應說:

The only room available at the moment is a twin room.

例: The only available doctor in the hospital does not have much experience. (╳)

　→The only doctor available in the hospital does not have much experience. (○)

　　(這家醫院唯一有空的一位醫生沒什麼經驗。)

4. How many days do you want to stay?　　您想要住幾天呢？　

在中文裏, 雖然我們會說『住』旅館, 但在英文中卻不用live這個字, 而要用stay (停留、待), 因為使用live時, 是指長期居住在某個地方, 把那個地方當作家一樣, 而住在旅館只是短期的行為, 所以要用stay這個字。因此本問句不可說成:

How many days do you want to live? (╳)

例: I have lived in Taipei for three years.

　　(我已經在台北住了三年了。)

　　I'll stay in that hotel when I am in New York.

　　(我去紐約時會住在那家旅館。)　

同理, 如果你這個週末要待在朋友家裏過夜時, 也要用stay, 但如果你是和朋友住在一起的話, 那就可以用live。　

例: This weekend I'm going to stay (over) at a friend's house.

　　(這個週末我要待在朋友家過夜。)

　　I live with a friend in a small apartment.

　　(我和朋友住在一間小公寓裏。)
