change money　　換錢

有時亦可說exchange money。

change A into B　　把A換成B

例: I want to change NT$30,000 into US dollars.

　 (我想把三萬台幣換成美金。)

＊NT$30,000的唸法是thirty thousand NT dollars或thirty thousand NT。 (NT dollars是New Taiwanese dollars的縮寫)

I would like to cash these traveler's checks, please.

麻煩你，我想把這些旅行支票換成現金。

a. 此處的cash是動詞, 表『兌換現金』的意思。

例: Can you cash this check for me?

　　(你能幫我把這張支票兌換成現金嗎？)

b. cash也可作名詞, 表『現金』, 和money、 change(零錢) 一樣, 為不可數名詞, 其用法和change一樣有兩種:

例: How many cashes/changes do you have? (╳)

　 →How much cash/change do you have? (○)

　 = How much do you have in cash/change?

　 (你有多少現金／零錢？)

　 I have 20 dollars in cash/change.

　　(我有廿元現金／零錢。)

identification是指證明身分的文件, 一般有三種證照可為證明:

ID card = identity card　(身分證)

driver's license　(駕駛執照)

passport　(護照)

do原表『做 (工作)』, 此處則表『行』或『可以』。

例: I do my homework every day.　

　 (我每天都做家庭作業。)

　 A: What would you like to drink?

　 B: Just water will do.

　 (甲：你想喝點什麼？)

　 (乙：只要白開水就行了。)

　 A: Can you lend me some money?

　 B: Will 100 dollars do?

　 (甲：你能借我一些錢嗎？)

　 (乙：一百塊錢夠不夠？)

= That'll be OK.

= That'll do.

例: A: Let's meet at 8 in the morning. Will it be too early for you?

　 B: No, that'll be fine.

　 A: OK, see you then.

　 (甲：咱們早上八點碰面，對你而言會不會太早？)

　 (乙：不會，八點可以。)

　 (甲：好的，到時候見。)
