注意:
a.上列兩句的劃線部份均有the most, 但用法有別:
在第二句中, most是副詞, 譯成『最』, 修飾後面的形容詞beautiful。而在第一句中, most是形容詞, 譯成『最多的』, 修飾後面的名詞people。
由上得知, 第一句中的most乃形容詞many的最高級, 後面接複數名詞, 變化如下:
原級 比較級 最高級
many more most
例:He has many friends.
(他朋友很多。)
I have more friends.
(我朋友比較多。)
She has the most friends.
(她朋友最多。)
b.most亦可作形容詞much的最高級, 後面接不可數名詞, 變化如下:
原級 比較級 最高級
much more most
much多用於否定句中, 肯定句中則使用a lot of取代much。
例:He has much money. (劣)
→ He doesn't have much money. (○)
(他錢不多。)
He has a lot of money.
(他錢很多。)
I have more money.
(我的錢比較多。)
She has the most money.
