be as much + a/an + 名詞 + as...
和……一樣是……
＊ 在此用法中, 只可置入單數可數名詞, 而不可使用複數名詞。
例: Mr. Chen is as much a teacher as his father was.
(陳先生和他父親一樣是位老師。)
注意:
上述用法乃由"be as + 形容詞 + a/an + 單數可數名詞 + as..." (和……一樣地……) 演化而來; 此種只能與含有形容詞的單數可數名詞並用的句構有下列四種:
as...as... 和……一樣地……
so...that... 如此……以致於……
too...to... 太……而不能……
how... 多麼地……
在這四組片語中, 因as (一樣地)、so (如此地)、too (太)、how (多麼地) 均為副詞, 故之後應先置形容詞以供修飾, 然後再置不定冠詞 (a/an) 及單數名詞。
1. as + 形容詞 + a/an + 名詞 + as... 例: The young man is as a successful businessman as his
father. (╳)
→ The young man is as successful a businessman as his
father. (○)
(那個年輕人和他父親一樣是位成功的商人。)
2. so + 形容詞 + a/an + 名詞 + that...
例: The woman is so a popular singer that people all over the
world know who she is. (╳)
→ The woman is so popular a singer that people all over the
world know who she is. (○)
(那位女士是個非常受歡迎的歌手，因此世界各地的人都
知道她。)
注意:
使用"such...that..."時, 則such是之後可接任何名詞。
例: He is such an idiot that no one likes him.
單數名詞
(他很愚蠢，所以沒有人喜歡他。)
They are such idiots that no one likes them.
複數名詞
(他們是這麼的愚蠢，所以沒有人喜歡他們。)
It is such good music that everyone enjoys it.
不可數名詞
(這音樂這麼好聽，所以每個人很喜歡。)
3. too + 形容詞 + a/an + 名詞 + to...
例: Kenny is too a slow runner to compete in the race. (╳)
→ Kenny is too slow a runner to compete in the race. (○)
(肯尼跑得太慢無法參賽。)
4. How + 形容詞 + a/an + 名詞!
例: How a considerate man he is! (╳)
→ How considerate a man he is! (○)
(他真是個體貼的人！)
注意:
使用what時, 則之後可接任何名詞。
例: What a kind man he is!
