注意:
a. 表日期或星期幾時, 須使用介詞on, 如: on Christmas Day (在聖誕節那天, 即十二月二十五日)、on January 1 (在一月一日)、on Sunday (在星期日)。
例: On Christmas Eve my parents give me a gift.
(我父母在聖誕夜時都會送我禮物。)
Ken is going to play golf on Sunday.
(肯恩星期日要去打高爾夫球。)
b. 表年、月、季節、上/下午及晚上時, 須使用介詞in, 如: in 2003 (在二○○三年)、in July (在七月)、in summer (在夏天)、in the morning/afternoon/night (但: at night)。
例: I was born in 1950.
(我是一九五○年生的。)
Mr. Black sleeps in the morning and works at night (或in the night).
(布雷克先生早上睡覺，而在晚上工作。)
c. 與日期或星期幾並用的早上、下午或晚上, 其介詞應以日期或星期幾為準, 故須用介詞on, 如: on the afternoon of July 4 (在七月四日的下午)、on Monday morning (在星期一早上)。
例: The murder happened on the afternoon of June 10.
(那宗謀殺案是在六月十日下午發生的。)
Are you doing anything on Saturday afternoon?
(這個星期六下午你要做什麼嗎？)
d. 表時刻時, 則須用介詞at, 如: at ten (o'clock)、at dawn (在黎明時, 約清晨六點)、at noon (在正午時, 約中午十二點)、at dusk (在黃昏時, 約傍晚六點)、at night (在晚上, 約八、九點以後)、at midnight (午夜十二點)。
例: I am going to meet my friend at three this afternoon.
(今天下午三點我要和我的朋友碰面。)
The cock crows at dawn every day.
