不定詞片語 (to + 原形動詞) 與否定副詞never、not並用形成否定句構時, 要將never或not置於to之前, 而不可置於其後。

例: Mother told me to never speak to strangers. (╳)

 → Mother told me never to speak to strangers. (○)

　 (媽媽告訴我絕不可和陌生人說話。)

　 The doctor advised me to not eat fatty foods. (╳)

 → The doctor advised me not to eat fatty foods. (○)

　(醫生建議我不要吃油膩的食物。)
