本課介紹more and more作形容詞及副詞的用法, 另外介紹"those who..." |
1. |
As a result, more and more people are suffering from stress.
More and more students are learning English.
He is making more and more money.
He is doing things more and more carefully.
She is getting more and more beautiful.
His English is getting more and more good.(╳)
→His English is getting better and better. (○)
He is walking more and more fast. (╳)
→He is walking faster and faster. (○)

2. |
Those who are stressed out are often nervous, angry or ill.
a. 代名詞Those (那些人, 等於People) 作主詞;
b. Those之後的who are stressed out是關係代名詞who所引導的形容詞子句, 作限定修飾 (who之前無逗點), 修飾Those;
c. are則為be動詞, 之後的often是副詞, 修飾該be動詞;
d. nervous、angry及ill以對等連接詞or連接, 共作主詞Those的補語。
those who...
=one who...
=he who...
Those who work hard are sure to succeed.
= One who works hard is sure to succeed.
= He who works hard is sure to succeed.
|
3. |
People must, therefore, learn to deal with this "new" kind of problem.
The best way, however, is to keep a good sense of humor.
Therefore, people must learn to deal with this "new" kind of problem.
However, the best way is to keep a good sense of humor.
He is nice. I, therefore, like him.
This car is good. That one, however, is bad.
Father gave me some money yesterday. I can
, therefore, buy a pen.
Father gave me some money yesterday. I,
therefore, can buy a pen.
