1. Live and let live.   自已活也讓別人活。  
= You live your life the way you want and let others live theirs the way they want.
2. To be frank (with you), 主詞 + 動詞   坦白 (對你) 說,…… 
= Frankly speaking, 主詞 + 動詞
= To tell (you) the truth, 主詞 + 動詞
frank a. 坦白的, 直言無諱的
注意:
上述用法中, to be frank (with you) 及to tell (you) the truth均為不定詞片語, 作副詞用, 修飾逗點之後的主要子句。
例:To be frank with you, I think the poor are more sincere than the rich.
(坦白說,我認為窮人比有錢人真誠。)
*sincere a. 真誠的
To tell you the truth, I'm broke.
(坦白對你說,我破產了。)
I had a frank conversation with my parents last night.

3. What on earth for?   究竟是為了什麼?
注意:
on earth在句中為強調性副詞片語, 通常置於疑問詞 (what、who、where...) 之後, 中文譯為『到底、究竟』。
例:What are you doing?
(你在做什麼?)
→What on earth are you doing?
= What in the world are you doing?
(你到底在做什麼?)
Who is he?
(他是誰?)
→Who on earth is he?
= Who in the world is he?
(他究竟是誰?)
Where did she go?
(她去了哪兒?)
→Where on earth did she go?
= Where in the world did she go?
(她究竟去了哪兒?)
4. What for?   為什麼?   
= Why?
例:A: Should I give Bill a call?
B: What for?
(甲:我是不是該撥個電話給比爾?)
(乙:為什麼?)
bored a. 感到厭煩的
be bored with...  對……感到厭煩, 厭煩……
= be fed up with...
= be sick of...
= be tired of...
例:Doing the same thing day in and day out can be boring.
(日復一日做相同的事會很無趣。)
Mr. Lin is bored with his monotonous lifestyle.
(林先生對他一成不變的生活方式感到厭煩。)
*monotonous a. 單調的, 無變化的
5. boring a. 令人厭煩的

注意:

7. kind of...   有點……
注意:
本片語和sort of、somewhat皆表『有點』, 作副詞用, 常用來修飾形容詞 (如本文)、副詞或動詞, 且皆放在其修飾的詞類之前。
例:Everyone thinks Andy is kind of nice.
(每個人都認為安迪還不錯。)
Sometimes, Sara behaves kind of foolishly.
(有時候,莎拉的行為有些愚蠢。)
I kind of think Nancy likes Alex.
(我認為南西有點喜歡艾歷克斯。)
8. weird a. 怪異的   
例:Young Jack likes to wear weird clothes.
(年輕的傑克喜歡穿著奇裝異服。)
9. nonsense n. 無意義的話或文章; 胡扯 (不可數)
talk nonsense  胡說八道
例:No one listens to him because he always talks nonsense.

appeal vi. 吸引
注意:
appeal常與介詞to並用, 形成下列用法:
appeal to + 人  吸引某人
= attract + 人
*attract vt. 吸引

Only well-educated women appeal to Mr. Chen.
(只有受過良好教育的女人才能讓陳先生心動。)
