在所有中國的十二生肖中, 狗真的是最突出的。

"of all + 名詞"表『在所有……之中』, of all可用among取代, 其後名詞表示的數量一定是三者或三者以上, 且使用此句型時, 其主要子句中通常含有最高級修飾語, 句型如下:

Of all + 名詞, 含最高級修飾語的主要子句

=Among (all) + 名詞, 含最高級修飾語的主要子句

在所有……之中,……最……

例:Of all the students in my class, Jane is the prettiest.

　 =Among (all)  the students in my class, Jane is the
　 prettiest.

　 (在我班上所有學生之中，珍是最漂亮的。)

注意:

"of the two + 名詞"則要使用比較級, 句型如下:

在兩個……之中, ……比較……

例:Of the two brothers, Gary is (the) smarter.

a.make作使役動詞時, 譯成『使/令/叫……』, 此種意義的使役動詞尚有have及get, have後接原形動詞作受詞補語, 但get之後則要接不定詞片語 (to + 原形動詞) 作受詞補語。句型如下:

　  make/have + 人 + 原形動詞　　叫某人從事……

　  get + 人 + to + 原形動詞

例:Mom makes me do the laundry on weekends.

　  (媽媽周末時都會叫我洗衣服。)

　  Can you have the repairman fix the lock this afternoon?

　  (你可以叫修理工人今天下午來修鎖嗎？)

　  Let's get Mandy to give us a ride home.

　  (咱們叫曼蒂讓我們搭便車回家吧。)

b.have及get加受詞後, 其後亦可接過去分詞作受詞補語, 此時的have及get譯成『把……』。句型如下:

　  have/get + 受詞 + 過去分詞　　把……(被)……

例:Sandy had her hair cut on the weekend.

　  (珊蒂周末時把頭髮理了。)

　  If you don't stop complaining about me, you'll get me fired.

　  (如果你對我抱怨個不停，會使我被開除的。)

c.let亦為使役動詞, 表『讓……』, 其後亦接原形動詞作受詞補語。句型如下:

　  let + 受詞 + 原形動詞

例:Don't wake the baby up; let him sleep.

(別吵醒寶寶，讓他睡吧。)

He helps us keep thieves out of our homes.

=He helps us (to) keep thieves out of our homes.

牠幫助我們防止小偷闖到我們家裡。

The dog has also helped us with our English.

狗也幫了我們英文上的忙。

a.help + 人 + (to) + 原形動詞　　幫助/忙某人……

例:These pills help me (to) sleep.

b.help + (to) + 原形動詞　　幫助/忙……

例:This jacket will help (to) keep you warm.

　  (這件夾克可以幫助你保暖。)

c.help + (人) + with + 名詞　　幫助/忙 (某人) ……

例:Janet's boyfriend helps (her) with her homework.

　  (珍妮特的男友幫忙（她）做功課。)

d.help with + 名詞　　幫助/忙……

例:Can you help with the police inquiry?

　  (你可以協助警方調查嗎？)
